Primarily for protection at mean monthly temperatures below plus 14 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 10 degrees Celsius). It also provides ballistic protection and may have anti-fog, dual-pane thermal gasket lenses that insulates the eyes. The frame is designed to seal securely and comfortably against the wearer's face and held in place by an adjustable headband. The frame also has built in attachment points to attach the tailored balaclava. The balaclava is made of durable material with mesh over the mouth and nose.
