A device used to produce high-resolution multi-format films directly from image data acquired during diagnostic radiology procedures using dry-processing imaging. The printer often includes a thermal head, heat-responsive microcapsules filled with dye precursors, and a developer; when heat is applied, the developer passes through the microcapsule walls and reacts with the dye precursor to form a dye that creates an image on film or paper.
