승무원실 또는 격실에 공급하기 위해 항공기의 공기조절장치에 찬공기를 보내주도록 고안된 유니트로서,냉각매체로는 공기를 사용하는 공기 사이클식 유니트이며,기본적으로 냉각터빈과 열교환기로 이루어졌고,냉각공기를 보내주는 것이지만 공기를 조절하지는 않는다. 조절밸브와 함께 사용되나 자체로는 공급 공기나 온도를 조절하는 장치는 전혀 갖추지 않는다.

A unit designed to provide cool air in an aircraft air conditioning system for distribution to cabin and/or compartments. It is an air cycle type unit using air as the refrigerant media. Basically consists of a cooling turbine and a heat exchanger. Performs cooling but does not condition air. It is used in conjunction with control valves but in itself has no means for controlling the temperature or the air it is providing.
