수열의 범위가 저압의 공기 온도로 설계된 열 전달장치로서관과 관위로 흐르는 관로식 램공기(비행시 항공기 공기 흡입구에 들어오는 공기)를 통하여 열이 전달됨. 압력공기의 열은 램공기에게도 전달되어 감소함. 덕트 또는 비덕트식으로 램공기를 통하는 판금속 구조물과 선회형의 철심, 입구와 출구기문들로써 구성됨. 마개 밸브가 있는 것도 있음. 원래 항공기의 공조설비나 공기유도계 등에 사용된다.

A heat transfer device designed to lower compressed air temperature to an acceptable level by passing it through tubes and flowing ducted ram air over the tubes, heat of the compressed air is transferred to the ram air reducing the temperature. Consists of a sheet metal housing with ram air connection(s) with or without ducts, a tubular type core, inlet and outlet ports. May contain a shutoff valve. Normally used in aircraft air conditioning and/or air induction systems.
