활주식이나 회전식 접촉이 출력저항치를 변경시키도록 저항소자의 노출부 위를 이동하는 저항기이다. 출력저항치의 기능적 허용공차(선형)가 선형 출력의 ± 1% 보다 같거나 적다. 사인,코사인,탄젠트와 같은 출력방식은 정밀형으로 분류된다. 사용 전에 설치하고 고정하도록 고안된 수동으로 저항치를 정하는 탭을 가진 품목들은 "저항기, 조절식(RESISTOR, ADJUSTABLE)"을 참조하고, 단계적으로 저항이 변화되는 품목들은 "가감저항기(RHEOSTAT)"및 "저항기,단계식(RESISTOR, STEP BY STEP)"을 참조한다. A resistor in which a sliding or rolling contact moves over an exposed area of the resistive element to change the ohmic value of the output. The functional tolerance (linearity) of the output is equal to or less than plus or munus 1 percent on linear outputs. Specified outputs such as sine, cosine, tangent, and the like, shall be considered to be precision.
