A digging apparatus consisting of a boom operated by wire ropes or hydraulic actuating cylinders in a vertical arc, with a bucket on a swinging arm attached at one end, the other end for attaching to an excavator basic unit. The direction of digging is towards the basic unit and the bucket is emptied by being lifted and moved away from the basic unit.
