철선 또는 비철선으로서 끝단의 모서리가 뾰족하거나 둥글고,정사각형 또는 직사각형의 단단한 단면을 가졌다. 단면은 원형,반 원형,6각형 또는 8각형인 것도 있고,면간의 직경,폭 또는 최대거리가 3/8인치보다 적 다. 직사각형 모양의 것은 두께는 3/32인치 이하로,폭은1 1/4인치 이하로 제한 된다. 위의 치수보다 큰것은 "금속봉(METAL BAR)"을 참조한다. 전기저항이나 도전율 등급을 갖는 품목들은 제외된다.

A ferrous or nonferrous wire having a solid cross section that is square or rectangular with sharp or rounded corners or edges, or is round, half-round, hexagonal, or octagonal and whose diameter, width, or greatest distance between parallel faces is less than 3/8 inch or 10.0mm.
