A hydraulic or pneumatic motor powered device designed to assemble and disassemble threaded pipe, pipeline, well casing sections, and the like. It consists of one adjustable rotary head powered tong and one powered holding tong. The holding tong may be detached and remounted to permit full torque in reverse operation. The tong set may include mounting facilities that permit operation in a horizontal or vertical position. It may be operated by the installation power system, or by a diesel or gasoline engine power supply.
