다공질,섬유질 혹은 조각조각으로 된 재료를(금속 또는 비금속) 계속적으로 엇갈리게 느슨하게 짜거나 혹은 매트로 짠 롤형태의 교환할 수 있는 여과장치이다. 이것은 공기 여과장치,환기장치,고온공기가 열로 등에 설치하여 이를 통과하는 공기로 부터 먼지,가루 또는 기타 이물질을 여과해서 공기 분배실로 들여 보내도록 만든 장치이다. 이것을 스풀이나 롤러(속이 빈 코어형)에 말아서 여과장치에 설치하면 패널의 공기흡입공을 통하여 다른 스풀이나 롤러에 감겨지도록 되어 있다.

A replaceable device in roll form designed to remove dust, pollen or other foreign matter from the air passing through it. The removal of particles is accomplished by porous, fibrous or shredded material (metallic or non-metallic) which is loosely woven or matted and mounted on a spool or hollow core roll. It is designed to fit into air conditioners, ventilation systems, hot air furnaces, and the like. When installed, itis drawn from one spool to another through an intake opening in a panel or the like.
