외부 나삿니가 되어 있는 조임쇠 샛기둥 한쪽 끝에는 나삿니가 되어 있고 나삿니가 되지 않은 쪽은 조립된 머리가 되어 있다. 머리쪽은 6각형으로 되어 있다. 천막의 아치부분,문기둥 따위에 끼우게 되어 있으며 천막의 중도리 부분을 목조 천막의 구조부재에 핀으로 연결 고정하는 것이다 .

An externally threaded fastener consisting of a stud which is threaded on one end and a head which is fabricated on the unthreaded end of the stud. The head is usually hexagonal in shape. It is designed to be fitted into a tent arch, DOOR POST, TENT or the like, and pinned in place to connect tent purlins to structural members of a frame type tent.
