항공기, 차량, 상륙용주정에 실려 후송되어 오는 환자에게 경부를 계속 당겨 주는 기구로 차량의 움직임에는 별로 영향을 받지 않고 일정한 힘으로 계속 견인력을 제공할 수 있다. 이 기구에는 쇠줄이 그 위에 감겨져 있는 스프링 원통과 경부굴레나 지지용집게에 붙어 있는 쇠고리가 있다. 크랭크가 원통을 돌리기 위해 웜기어구동장치에 연결되어 있어서 회전 방향에 따라 쇠줄의 압력도를 증감시킨다. 후송중인 환자를 들것에서 치료할때 우선 사용되는 기구이다.

A device which provides a pre-set, constant tension for cervical traction to a patient who is being evacuated by aircraft, motor vehicle, amphibious landing craft, and is capable of providing this constant traction force relatively independent of vehicular motion. It consists of a spring loaded drum onto which a wire cable is wound; the distal end of the cable being attached either to a cervical halter or to a Crutchfield tong. A crank is connected to a worm-gear drive for rotating the drum, which depending upon the direction of rotation, increases or decreases the degree of tension on the cable. The item is designed primarily for use on a litter with a patient in transit.
