진행방향에 대해 직각인 3개의 연결가지가 있는 이음쇠의일종이다. 파이프 연결부는 표준 파이프 나선이 있는 것과 나선이 없는것 2종류가 있어 파이프를 연결할 수 있도록 되어 있다. 보스 연결부는 외부 또는 내부 나선이 있어 가스켓,예비 성형 팩킹,와셔 등을 설치하여 보스에 봉함을 만들기에 용이하도록 제조되었다. 측면 유입구를 갖춘 것도 있다. 파이프 이음쇠 보스 및 보스 이음쇠의 교차 부분과 탱크,하우징,발브 이음쇠 등을연결할 때 사용한다.

A fitting having three connections with the branch connection fixed at 90 degrees (1.5705 radians) to the run. The pipe connection(s) has standard pipe threads or is unthreaded and designed to accommodate a pipe. The boss connection(s) has external or internal machine threads (straight threads other than pipe or hose series), and is designed to facilitate a gasket, preformed packing, washer, or the like, to form a seal at the boss. It may have side inlet(s). It is used as a junction at the intersection of a pipe or pipe fitting and a boss or boss fitting on items such as tanks, housings, valve fittings, or the like.
