끝이 뽀죽하고 몸통은 밑에서 위로 차차 굵어졌고 유색 대가리가 고정 부착되어 있다. 몸통은 고도로 연마되고, 부식하지 않는 강철로 있으며 강도는 록크웰C-45이상이다 . 몸통의 길이는 1/2인치 이하이다. 대가리는 부식하지 않는 금속제어야 한다. 이 핀은 정밀 기재와 함께 사용되며 야전포병포대 진지를 지도와 사격도판에 표정하는데 알루미늄제 사거리 편차 각도기의 축으로 사용된다.

The shaft is highly polished, corrosion-resistent steel with a hardness of not less than Rockwell C-45, with a taper 1/2 inch (12.7 millimeters) or less in length. The cap shall be of corrision-resistent metal. Its primary use is in conjunction with precision instruments. It is designed to serve as a pivot for an aluminum range deflection protractor in locating artillery battery positions on maps and firing charts. Excludes:MAPTACK; and PLOTTING NEEDLE.
