기계식 또는 유압식 승강장치 바퀴가 장치 된 두개의 포크로 구성된 장치를 가진 자체추진 차륜차량으로 팰리트(이동식 화물대) 를 수평으로 조작할때 사용되며,높이 올리 는데는 사용되지 않는다. 인양장치는 인양 물건을 운반하기 위해 마루에서 2-3인치 정도로 팰리트를 들어 올리기에 충분할 만큼 대략 4인치 정도 올린다. 탑승용으로도 사 용된다.

A self-propelled, wheeled vehicle having a mechanical or hydraulic operated lifting mechanism (a framework consisting of two forks, each fork having mounted wheel(s) for support of the outer fork ends) primarily designed for horizontal handling of pallets and not intended for high elevating. The lift mechanism raises enough to lift the pallet above the floor only for transporting purposes. May be designed for riding and/or "walking along hand guiding."
