연소가스에 의해 추진되는 터빈과 엔진시동기 전동장치위에 설치되기 위해 제조된 감 속기어 조립체를 이용하여 가스터빈 엔진을 정지 상태로 부터 시동기 중단 속도에 이 르기 까지 가속시켜 주는 것이다. 연소가스는 연소실에 있는 점화된 액체 연료와 공기로부터, 또는 시동기의 연소실에 부착된 고체형의 추진 탄약으로부터 발생된다. 엔진 블리드(BLEED)나 지면장비에 의한 공기 공 급으로부터 발생하는 저압공기에 의해 터빈의 힘을 더 내게하는 장치를 가질 수도 있 다.

An item designed to accelerate a gas turbine engine from rest to starter cutoff speed by means of a combustion gas driven turbine and reduction gear assembly constructed to be mounted on the engine starter drive. The combustion gas is generated from ignited liquid fuel and air in the combustion chamber or from a solid propellant cartridge attached to the combustion chamber of the starter. May have provision for energizing the turbine by low pressure air from engine bleed or ground equipment air supply.
