An instrument for comparing the differences in chemical compositions of two metals or metal alloys by bringing the two together at a point and raising or lowering the temperature at the point of contact so that a thermal electromotive force is set up when two metals are dissimilar. The magnitude of the thermal electromotive force will indicate the degree of dissimilarity.
