외부 측정치를 정밀하고 빠르게 측정하는데 사용되는 측정 기구이다. 이것은 내부 측정용의 뾰족한 끝이나 어떤 부속장치가 없다는 것 외에는 캘리퍼, 활척식(CALIPER,SLIDE)과 비슷한 모양이지만 대신 원둘레용 자가가 덧붙어 있어서 원,실린더,공과 같은 물체의 원둘레를 직경을 측정하므로서 구할 수 있다.

A measuring tool used for close and quick reading of outside measurements. It is similar in design to CALIPER, SLIDE, except that it does not have "nibs" or any provision for inside measurements but is provided with an additional feature, a circumference scale, which indicates the circumference of a circle, cylinder, sphere, and the like, by the measured diameter.
