수레설치형, 동력구동형, 손이나 기계로 내려 눌려지는 토지 오거용 빗트에 회전운동을 주어 토지에 구멍을 뚫도록 만들어진 기계. 각(수직적)을 갖는 구멍을 뚫도록 만들어진다. 구멍을 뚫는 것과 흙을 제거하는 능력을 동시에 갖지 못한다.

A skid mounted, power operated machine designed to bore holes in the earth by imparting rotary motion to an earth auger bit which is forced downward either manually or mechanically. The machine may be designed to bore holes at an angle (other than vertical). It is not capable of boring and removing the earth simultaneously.
