직관으로된 두 단면이 합류되는 둥근단으로된 이음쇠로서,이들 단들이 유입구로 작용해서 여기에 직각인 제3의 단으로 흐름의 방향을 바꿔준다. 그 내부의 나선이 파인 부분이나 나선이 없는 부분이 끝단 들에는 내부 루트면으로 되어 있어서 표준 중량의 연철관이나 구리배수관,폐수관 및 통기관(DWV)을 끼울 수 있게 되어 있다. 파이프와 연결되면,연결된 파이프나 파이 이음쇠는 루트면 가까이오게되어 포 켓트가 제거되어 파이프 혹은 파이프 이음쇠에서의 흐름은 원활하게 된다. 측면 혹은 후부에 유입구가 있는것도 있다. 이것은 직관부의 두개의 제3의 단면을 직각으로 연결하는데 사용 된다.

A fitting having rounded ends where it joins two sections of pipe in a straight line to direct the flow from these ends acting as inlet(s) to the end at right angles. It has an internal shoulder(s) at the end(s) of its internally threaded or unthreaded portion, whose inside diameter conforms to standard weight wrought iron pipe or copper drainage, waste and vent (DWV) tube. When connected, the mating pipe and/or pipe fitting is close to the shoulder to eliminate a pocket and provide a smooth flow of the pipe and/or pipe fitting contents. It may have side and/or heel inlet(s). It is designed to connect two sections of pipe in a straight line to a third section at right angles.
