손으로 운반하는 기계로 관식 펌프와 살충제 따위를 넣는 용기 등으로 구성되어 있다. 용기자체가 펌프 몸체의 일부가 될 수도 있고 그렇지 않을 수도 있으며 따라서 펌프에 고정 또는 분리식으로 되어있다. 한 손 또는 발로 잡고 다른 손으로 피스톤형의 플런저를 펌프질하여 작동한다. 분무기로 변형하거나 분무기로 사용되지 않는다.

A manually-carried device consisting of a tubular pump and container for insecticide powder and the like. The container may or may not form part of the pump body, and may be either affixed or removable from pump. The duster is held with one hand or with the foot and operated by pumping a piston type plunger with the other hand. It cannot be converted into or used as a sprayer.
