A piping device usually formed of nonferrous metal which is connected to a plumbing fixture for waste drainage and for the purpose of preventing sewer gas from backing up beyond a desired point by forming a water seal in the line. This is accomplished by its peculiar shape which is usually in the form of a letter P or S.
