전선에 연결되지 않는 연속적으로 감아 철선이나 다른 전도 재료를 한바퀴 이내, 한바퀴 또는 그이상 감아서 만든 품목, 원형 이외의 형태로 감아지거나 만들어 질수 있으며, 스스로 지지되거나 코일 형태를 요구하지 않을 수도 있다. 무선 주파수 전류가 흐르는 회로내에서 유도 리액턴스를 제공하도록 특별하게 만들어진다. 동조장치, 적분저항기 및 축전기를 포함할 수 있으나 필터(FILTER)(서술된품목)는 제외된다.코일은 다만 2개의 전주를 가진다. 선에 연결되어 감겨있거나 하나 이상 감겨진 품목에 대해서는"변압기 무선주파수용(TRANSFORMER,RADIO FREQUEC)"을 참조한다. 고주파 기생 진동을 억제하도록 무선주파수 범위의 회로내에 삽입 되도록 만들어진 저항기 위에 감긴 코일에 대해서는 "억제기,기생발진용(SUPPRESSOR,PARASITIC)"을 참조한다.

An item consisting of a partial turn as one or more turns of wire or other conductive material which constitutes one continuous untapped winding. It may be wound or formed in other than a circular manner and may be self-supporting, requiring no coil form. It is specifically designed to furnish inductive reactance in a circuit carrying radio frequency current ranging from 20 kilohertz (kilocycles) and above. It may include tuning devices, integral resistors and capacitors; however, Excludes:FILTER (as modified). The coil has only two electrical terminals.
