철도 궤도의 수평면을 검사하는데 사용되는 기구이다.본체는 목재이며,몸체 한쪽에는 두개의 금속 다리가 있고, 다른쪽에는 조절식 한개의 다리가 있으며,수평기 전면이 수평면에 맞으면 기포가 중앙에 위치하는 눈금이 새겨지지 않은 주유리관이 있다.

It consists of a wood body with 2 metal legs on one end and a single leg with an adjustable scale on the other; a main nongraduated vial so set that when the face of level is held on a horizontal plane the bubble will center itself.
