편지나 서류에 시간을 인쇄하기 위한 기계적 또는 전기적으로 작동되는 시계. 여기에는 시간이외에 다른 자료를 추가적으로 인쇄할 수 있는 장치가 있을 수 있다. 이것은 수동으로 작동되기도 하고 찍히는 품목 넣으면 자동으로 작동되기도 한다. 이것은 표시하는 위치를 정확히 하는 장치는 없으므로 그렇게 하려면 기록계, 시간용(RECORDER TIME)을 사용한다.

A mechanically or electrically operated clock which is primarily designed to imprint time data on letters, documents, and the like. It may be equipped to imprint additional data not related to time. It may be actuated manually or automatically by insertion of the item to be stamped. It does not incorporate provisions for precise positioning of the stamp.
